Pakistan and China reaffirm their cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan to attend the 6th round of the strategic dialogue of foreign ministers today (Tuesday) in what marks his second visit to Pakistan in three years. He was greeted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar.

The two parties talked about the full range of Pakistani-Chinese relations and examined regional and global issues. They have shared in-depth information on a wide range of aspects related to bilateral cooperation, including the Chinese-Pakistani economic corridor (CPEC) 2.0, commercial and economic links, multilateral collaboration and people to persons.

“Highlighting the strategic cooperative partnership in all times between Pakistan and China, DPM / FM and FM Wang Yi have agreed that Pakistani-Chinese friendship is important to maintain regional peace and stability and also essential for the progress and prosperity of the two countries,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two countries have reaffirmed their solid links and agreed to maintain close coordination and communication, both bilaterally and on multilateral platforms.

Today’s meeting paves the way for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Beijing later this month to attend the Shanghai summit. The visit is supposed to officially launch CPEC 2.0, which suffered from a period of five years.

The Chinese FM should meet Prime Minister Shehbaz and the chief of staff of the army, Marshal Asim Munnir, during his visit.

Yesterday, DPM Dar and Wang Yi were in Kabul to organize trilateral talks with Afghanistan, where they reaffirmed their efforts for regional cooperation and extended the CPEC in Afghanistan.
