SC grants an imran khan deposit in the eight case of May 9

On Thursday, the Supreme Court admitted pleadings caused by ousted Prime Minister, Imran Khan, in eight cases concerning the riots of May 9.

During the hearing, the chief judge of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi asked the prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi two questions: “You must have read the decision of the High Court of Lahore. First, can a final conclusion be given in a case of surety? Second, in conspiracy affairs here, this same court granted the accused before.

Naqvi argued that the observations made in the cases of release under bail were always of an interim nature and had no effect on the procedure of trial. From 1996 to 2024, the SC in various decisions judged that observations in the release cases under deposit are temporary, he said.

The CJP Afridi noted that SC had suffered a deposit to the former senator and Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Ejaz Chaudhry, in a case of May 9, despite the allegations of conspiracy and asked for clarification on this decision.

To this, the prosecutor replied that the case was different from that of Imran.

The CJP asked prossection to establish what distinguishes the case of Imran from past cases.

Judge Shafi Siddiqui added that Chaudhry had been accused of being present on the site and conspiracy.

Judge Hasan Azhar Rizvi asked if Chaudhry was really present on the spot during the May 9 riots.

Electronic evidence has shown that the presence of Chaudhry responded the prosecutor.

The CJP then asked: “What evidence do you have against the founder of the PTI?”

The prosecutor replied that three witness declarations had been submitted as evidence. He maintained that the founder of PTI played a central role in all cases.

After a short break by the court, the prosecutor sought to argue on the bottom of the case.

“We will not allow the arguments on the merits. You can only answer legal questions about the accusation of conspiracy,” said CJP Afridi.

The court admitted a bond of Imran to the Pleadoyers to hear and ordered the accusation to prepare arguments.

LHC had previously denied having heard of Imran’s pleads.

“On May 9, the authors will face the law”

In addition, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that people involved in the May 9 riots and their facilitators will be confronted with the law.

Addressing the media, the CEO said that the army chief had given no interview during an event in Brussels, where hundreds of people had taken photos. He referred to an article written by the main journalist Sohail Warraich on the issue as “irresponsible”. Lieutenant-General Chaudhry said there was no mention of the army chief on the PTI or any mention of the excuses.

Calling the Pakistanis the largest asset in the country, he said that shortcomings in governance were filled every day by the sacrifices of the military, the police and the police.

He said Pakistan had the potential to reshape the fate of the region, which is why he remained under constant attack. He urged young people to understand the heritage, history and ideology behind their state.

DG ISPR noted that the consensual decision taken by all political parties in 2014 to eliminate terrorism in all its forms has not yet been fully implemented.

He said that whenever measures were taken to expel illegal Afghan nationals involved in crimes, political and criminal elements in Pakistan are raising objections. The CEO ISPR stressed that the complete implementation of the 14 points of the national action plan was essential.
