Lahore:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), the nephew of the founder Imran Khan, Shahrez Khan, for eight days of physical move as part of a 9-year riot case on Thursday, more than two years after his name in the investigation.
Shahrez was arrested in the evening of August 21 of his residence, according to PTI leaders, the arrest occurred late Wednesday evening when an unidentified group of people entered the home of Aleema Khan forcibly. Party officials said the household staff had been attacked, family members harassed and Shahrez took his room in front of their children.
Later, the police involved it in the Jinnah house attack case through two additional declarations filed on September 23, 2023. He was produced before ATC judge Manzar Ali Gill, where the police asked for a 30 -day pre -trial detention for a more in -depth investigation and the restoration of equipment which claims to be in its possession.
The defense, led by the main lawyer Salman Akram Raja, firmly disputed the request, calling the arrest of Shahrez after 27 months “ridiculous”. Raja argued that the accused had no political involvement and was “roped without evidence”. He told court that Shahrez had been in chitral between May 6 and 13, 2023 and stressed that Leema – Shahrez’s mother – had already been released in the same case.
Raja also argued that “such a delay in someone’s arrest reflects Mala’s intention” “.

During the procedure, the ATC judge asked the investigator on the alleged role of Shahrez.
The police acknowledged that the accused was not sought in any other case linked to May 9, but the accusation argued that his name appeared in several files.
Defense lawyers argued that Shahrez was an athlete and that he was unnecessarily involved. This would “send a bad message internationally,” said lawyers.
The PTI insists that he had no involvement in political activities and was only targeted because of his family ties.
The party accused the government of having systematically targeted relatives and supporters of Imran in order to dismantle the political base of PTI.
