- GOOGLE TV 64 -bit applications should offer smoother and faster performance
- The developers have said to prepare for Google TV / Android to come “
- The target date is August 2026
Google has asked application developers to prepare for “Google TV and Android TV devices” to come “by ensuring that their television applications are available in the form of 64 -bit versions.
The developers have a lot of time to prepare: the new rules come into force in August 2026.
Going from 32 bit to 64 -bit is good news for Google TV and Android TV users with compatible equipment, because 64 -bit applications generally offer faster loading times, less offset and better overall performance.
And streaming fans can see that in action on an Apple TV 4K, because Apple began the transition from the 64 -bit application ten years ago and finished tilting in 2019.
Google’s 64-bit movement means new materials?
Yes, but not necessarily from Google: although there have been speculations according to which Google works on a new 64 -bit TV streamer for launch next year, operating systems are also used by third -party products such as the Nvidia Shield and several of the best televisions, including the Sony Bravia 8 II. Google’s blog post notes that three versions of the Nvidia Shield are capable of 64 bits.
While Apple deleted 32 -bit support in TVOS 13 in 2019, Google does not exceed the step. “We do not modify any modification of 32 -bit support, and Google Play will continue to deliver applications to 32 -bit devices,” wrote Fahad Durrani, product director of Google TV.
What Google does here is to ask developers to smoke their applications, and from next August, this means subjecting 32 -bit and 64 -bit versions for maximum compatibility.
This means that existing Google TV users and Android TV equipment do not have to worry about the disappearance of their applications or their maintenance without updating in the foreseeable future, but according to your device, this could mean that a boost arrives next year – or it could mean that your next device gets the help.
