On Friday, at least five people were confirmed after a fireworks warehouse on the road to my Jinnah in Karachi caught fire Thursday evening, leaving 32 injured.
Two of the wounded died of their injuries during medical treatment while three other bodies were recovered from the rubble. Remaing 30 undergoes treatment. One person, however, could still be trapped under debris, said rescue officials 1122.
South SSP Mahzar Ali, who visited the site on Thursday with the bomb elimination team, told journalists that three other deceased had been withdrawn from the rubble and that two seriously injured victims died during hospital treatment. “It brought the number of deaths to five,” he confirmed.

Officials confirmed that the explosion had caused Serious damage to the Higher School of the Government of the Government Higher nearby in Jacob n ° 1 lines. Two of the school buildings, the staff room and a large part of its furniture have been destroyed. The exterior limit wall, ceiling fans and closets in classrooms have also been broken and debris of collapsed structures disseminated in the premises.
“If the explosion had occurred during school hours, it could have been a massive tragedy. More than 1,000 girls are studying here, with around 75 teachers and 10 support employees,” said the Principle Saima Naimat News.
The surveys revealed that the warehouse and the stores belonged to Hanif Patakha, son of Usman, and to her brother Muhammad Ayub. They would have stored excessive quantities of fireworks equipment under dangerous conditions, which caused the fatal explosion, resulting in a loss of precious human life and injuries to many others.
The SSP said that the owner of the warehouse,, Muhammad Hanif, was placed in police custody, while his brother and trading partner, Muhammad Ayub, is on the run. A case has already been recorded against the two brothers. “Raids are underway and it will soon be arrested.”
A FIR has been recorded on behalf of the state, police said.
The deputy director of the explosives department revealed that no authorization had been obtained from his office to store fireworks on the site. “If the storage is less than 50 kg, the DC office emits a night. All that is beyond [that] requires the authorization of the explosives department. From what we have seen so far, it seems that more than 50 kg of material have been kept inside, “he added.
Firefighters, Humayun Khan, described the explosion as it is so powerful that it has damaged the main pillars and broken windows of neighboring structures. “Fireworks are supposed to be stored far from populated areas, shops and petrol pumps, but this warehouse was located right next to a School construction, “he said.
The investigation is now focused on the warehouse license. “We are scoring when the fireworks license has been issued and how its renewal process worked,” said the SSP.
