India will approach its future trade relations with the United States with a “very open mind,” the Minister of the Trade Piyush Goyal said on Friday, just a few days before additional American prices took effect on imports from the country.
India-US trade discussions collapsed on India, the fifth world economy, resisting the opening of its vast agricultural and dairy sectors. Bilateral trade between the two countries is worth more than $ 190 billion.
Indian exports face American tasks up to 50% – among the highest imposed by Washington – after President Donald Trump announced additional prices such as punishment for increased Russian oil purchases from New Delhi.
Currently, a 25% rate on the import of Indian products to the United States has entered into force, while the remaining 25% should be applied from August 27.
Goyal, speaking during a Times Economic forum in New Delhi, said that India approaches the question of trade with the United States with a “very open mind, a positive perspective and the confidence that the India-US relationship is very substantial and very important for the two countries”.
A scheduled visit to American trade negotiators in New Delhi from August 25 to 29 was canceled, hoping for hopes for relieving upper American prices on Indian products.
The Indian Prime Minister Narendra amended not to compromise the interests of farmers in the country and takes care of prudent measures to facilitate the relationship with China with his first visit in seven years.
Goyal said that heating relations with China should not be linked to India-US commercial talks.
