DAR to attend an extraordinary meeting of the OIC on Gaza in Djeddah

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar, is expected to visit Saudi Arabia from August 25 to 26 to participate in the extraordinary session of the Council of the OIC of Foreign Ministers (CFM), which will be dinner.

The DPM will occur directly from Dacca – which followed the conclusion of its two -day visit to Bangladesh – to attend the high -level meeting, according to a press release from the Foreign Affairs Bureau.

“The high-level meeting will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials from the OIC member states to deliberate on coordinated responses to climbing developments in Palestine,” said the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs.

The deliberations will be expected to focus on increasing concerns concerning the Israeli military assault, efforts towards full control of Gaza and continuous violations of Palestinian rights.

The extraordinary CFM session, chaired by the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, reflects a unified position of Muslim nations in a context of deepening of humanitarian and political challenges in the region.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions will focus on coordinating joint efforts to face Israeli plans that strengthen occupation, apply blockade and contribute to an extended humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

During the session, he should put pressure for the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories, reject plans for a widening military control over Gaza and call for uninterrupted humanitarian assistance.

He also urges the restoration of Palestinian rights, in particular the creation of an independent, contiguous and sovereign state based on the limits of the pre-June of 1967, with al-Quds al-Sharif as capital.

The extraordinary session intervenes in the wake of the announcement of Israel to extend its military occupation of Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have rejected mediation efforts during the ceasefire and ordered soldiers to accelerate the implementation of a plan to assert the full control of Gaza City.

The plan, approved on August 8, would apparently include the forced displacement of nearly a million residents in the south of Gaza, the encirclement of Gaza City and the ground operations in densely populated residential areas.
