RS4 870 change for bananas becomes fatal in Raiwind

Thirty rupees of bananas resulted in the death of two young men from Kot Radha Kishan, where their funeral was flooded with shocked villagers during the weekend.

Wajid and his brother Rashid, both in their twenties, went to Raiwind, Lahore by bus before planning to go home to their village. They headed for a group of fruit sellers to buy bananas near Rohi Nala.

The bananas are of rs130 a dozen, but the brothers had only one note of one hundred rupees and a note of five thousand rupees. They asked the fruit seller to give them changes for the wider note. But when he said he didn’t get it, the brothers asked him to reduce their number of bananas. A fight broke out.

Wajid and Rashid were seriously beaten and the fruit seller called for the safeguard of certain friends, who played a cricket nearby.

A video of the fight shows Rashid rocking his brother on his lap on the ground, blood flowing on his head, when a young man loads him and strikes him over his head with a cricket bat.

Wajid died on the spot and Rashid was taken to the hospital. But he did not survive the head injury and died on Monday. His funeral took place on the same day.

Police arrested a man identified as a taimur as the striker in cricket and an FIR was registered for intentional murder by the city’s police station Raiwind under article 302 of the Pakistani penal code.

Thousands of citizens attended funeral prayer. Wajid, 22, was single but Rashid leaves five children behind him. Police are looking for other fruit sellers who participated in the fight.

The families of the victims said that passers -by had filmed the assault instead of helping and called on justice.

Residents asked for the case to be given to the Punjab counter-crime (CCD) and suggested FIR against those who filmed the attack instead of helping.
