Vanatara is a renowned project for the Ambani family located in the state of Western Gujarat and led by the billionaire’s son, Annant Ambani. His website indicates that he has saved and treated thousands of animals and builds the largest elephant hospital.
It is also one of the places of celebrations before the wedding of Annant last year, which saw world celebrities present which were advisable to put “Jungle Fever” outfits during the visit of the animal rescue center.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered an investigation on Monday when it had ruled on the public interest disputes which refer to complaints of non -profit groups and fauna alleging the ill -treatment of animals in Vantara and how they were welcomed, and alleging that the central authority of the zoo failed in its functions.
In a written order, the court said that although allegations are without proof, an independent investigation was necessary since the petitions allege that the authorities were not willing to pay their functions.
“We consider that it is appropriate at the end of justice to call an independent factual evaluation,” the court said in its order.
In a press release, the spokesman of Vantara said Reuters He remains attached to transparency and legal compliance. Vantara added that he will extend full cooperation to the investigation committee, and its “mission and concentration continues to be the rescue, rehabilitation and animal care”.
The Central Zoo Authority did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The panel will be led by a former judge of the Supreme Court and will submit a report on the acquisition of animals, in particular elephants, will examine complaints concerning the creation of a vanity or a private collection, as well as to verify compliance with the law of India on the protection of wild life.
The panel must submit a report to the court by September 12.
Located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, Vantara is home to more than 150,000 animals in more than 2,000 species. It also has a well-being trust of elephants spread over 998 acres, which says that is the largest care establishment in the world for rescued elephants.
In March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vantara and said that he “provides a safe refuge for animals while promoting ecological sustainability and well-being of fauna”.
Annant Ambani is also Executive Director of Reliance Industries of the Conglomerate of Petroleum and Attendance and is involved in its technological and telecommunications activities, JIO Platforms.
