- Report find that ciso are less confident in their staff protecting their companies
- Almost twice as much as many have undergone a loss of hardware data this year
- Many are concerned about the risks of AI, some are ready to use it in their advantages
Barely more than half (57%) of the main information security officials (CISO) think that staff include their role in the protection of the company, said new research against Proofpoint.
The figure is down 84% in 2024 and comes next to an observation that despite their best efforts and their investments in preventive measures, human error remains the greatest vulnerability, cited by about three out of five ciso.
This occurs as three out of four (74%) Cisos UK have undergone a loss of hardware data in the past year – almost double the 39% in 2024.
British ciso fear that workers are likely to
Proofpoint research has added that 86% of important data loss bodies involved employees that were coming out, but despite awareness programs, 30% of organizations are still lacking in initiate risk resources.
For the future, almost two thirds (63%) expect a material cyberatthe in the next 12 months, and yet, however, almost as much (61%) admit that their organization is not prepared to respond with 57%prepared to pay a ransom to quickly restore systems or prevent data leaks.
Aside from cybercriminals (as AI tools have lowered the entrance barrier while simultaneously increasing the sophistication of attacks), CISOs are also concerned about the use of AI within their companies. Two out of three (66%) completely restrict Genai employees, with only 60% of the directives of use of the GENAI.
“While the adoption of Genai accelerates both opportunities and threats, Ciso are invited to do more with less, to sail on unprecedented complexity and to protect what matters most,” noted the world resident of Proofpoint Ciso Patrick Joyce.
However, more than half (55%) explore improved defenses in the future, 72% prioritizing the use of Genai safe in the next two years.
“CISOs are now faced with a double responsibility: to exploit AI to strengthen their security posture while guaranteeing its ethical and responsible use,” added the director of the Proofpoint strategy, Ryan Kalember.
However, all of this has led to increased pressure on CISO – 67% report excessive expectations (compared to 62% last year), and 58% have known or witness to professional exhaustion in the past year.
Kalember noted that CISOs have now become at the heart of the company’s decision -making, but proofpoint research has revealed that the alignment of the British ciso conference room increased from 84% in 2024 to 57% in 2025, suggesting that they do not obtain the support they need.
For the future, companies can make subtle modifications to fill the risk difference in initiating and improve the protection of data loss while establishing the clarity of the role of the CISO in the AI era.
