Pakistan’s auditor (AG) of Pakistan informed the Committee of Public Accounts of the National Assembly (CAP) of more than 37 million diversion rupees by Government of the Government Support for Benazir Revenues Program on Thursday.
PAC members were informed that a total of 324 civil servants from the first year to the 22nd year are involved in the scandal.
The Committee decided that the GA should be sent all the data from these government employees and money should be recovered from their wages. The FIA should quickly conduct the investigation and file criminal affairs, said the members of the committee. The culprits should be dismissed, they added.
BISP officials informed the committee of another error, where 84 people receiving money were, in reality, died. They told the committee that they were in contact with the banks to examine how such payments had been made.
Yet another fraud case has surfaced, costing the RS13.72m. The amount was spent by false biometric checks on several tehsils, was informed of the committee.

Other revelations of financial mismanagement emerged at 80.508 million rupees in BISP funds have been disbursed to non -eligible individuals. BISP officials assured the committee that the recovery efforts were underway.
Meanwhile, audit reports in the poverty reduction division for the 1920s-21, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 revealed financial irregularities of a value of RS96B, was informed of the committee.
It has been concluded that many beneficiaries of funds had inactive accounts. The members of the Committee have decided that now if there is no activity in the beneficiary’s account for nine months, the amount sent must be recovered.
BISP individuals have been involved several times in financial fraud over the years, with fraud rising to RS141B during discovery earlier this year. In 2020, an investigation was launched against 2,700 BISP officers for financial crimes.
