GB CM TERMERS RS4B helps insufficient floods

Gilgit:

The chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, said on Thursday that the 4 billion rupee backup package announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was no longer sufficient, as fresh floods after the Prime Minister’s recent visit caused new devastation in the region.

Speaking during a ceremony where compensation checks were given to the families of the victims of the floods, the chief minister welcomed the Prime Minister’s previous visit to GB and thanked him for having announced the aid package. However, he added that the situation has worsened since, with more villages and damages multiplying.

“The Prime Minister’s support is commendable and we are grateful for its right -time announcement of RS4 billion,” said the chief minister.

“But after his visit, additional floods struck our communities, destroying houses, bridges and livelihoods. The losses are now far exceeding the announced assistance.”

The event was also followed by the Federal Minister of Kashmir and the engineer GB Amir Muqam and members of the provincial cabinet. Parents of those who died in the floods received remuneration controls under government rescue measures.

Muqam, who traveled through distant valleys to meet the victims earlier the day, reiterated the solidarity of the government with the inhabitants of GB and promised that additional aid would be mobilized.
