Matli:
The city of Matli de Badin as many rural and suburban areas of the province is in a grip of drug plague. The community loses its young people against the drug of methamphetamine ice cream, heroin and alcohol brewed locally.
Abdul Rehman Halepota, a leading social figure, the leader of the Pakistan peoples (PPP) and the Matli city councilor, announced a complete campaign to slow down the growing sale and use of crystal methamphetamine (commonly called ICE) and other narcotics in the urban and rural areas of Matli.
Speaking at a press conference, Halepota said that the uncontrolled propagation of narcotics, in particular crystal methamphetamine, had not only seized the current generation, but also constitutes a serious threat to the future of young people. He stressed that immediate and practical measures were necessary to save the company from new damage.
The head of the PPP said that he has the full support of elected representatives of the constituencies in this mission. He revealed that only three days earlier, an advisory meeting had been held with school administrations and the local police to design a coordinated strategy against the proliferation of drugs.
Halepota has announced that the campaign will be officially launched in a Matli boys’ high school thanks to a seminar to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs. “We are going to withdraw this campaign to the levels of the Council and the Union Council, by initiating representatives of the local government, the former community and the institutions concerned,” he said.
He stressed that statistical data highlights the devastating impact of drugs, in particular crystal methamphetamine, which has cost families and destroys families. The next campaign will aim to raise awareness and mobilize public opinion against drug abuse.
