PTI to boycott the sessions of the National Assembly

Islamabad:

President of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), lawyer Gohar, said on Monday that the party would boycott the sessions of the National Assembly to protest against what he called the unfair treatment of party legislators.

“From now on, we will not assist in the sessions of the National Assembly. We will protest and boycott instead,” said Gohar while speaking with journalists alongside other PTI members in Islamabad.

He added that the PTI parliamentary party met at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) house, heard the instructions of the party founder and approved them.

He accused the authorities of undressing the legislators of the PTI of their seats, of disqualifying them and of silencing their voices. “Even if we try to celebrate the day of independence, we are not allowed. Despite countless difficulties, we have had sessions that have had sessions to increase democratically demands, but we are not allowed to speak,” he said.

Meanwhile, former president Asad Qaiser urged the federal government to support the victims of the floods. “The KP government is working for people affected by floods. We will also appeal to our party founder to launch a fundraising call. We use the United Nations to provide assistance. It is also the duty of the federal government,” he said.

The chief minister of KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, reported serious devastation of the heavy rains, in particular in Buner, Shangla, Swabi and Swat. “A wave of flooding from 12 to 14 feet destroyed houses. Our agencies have saved all people within 24 hours. Until now, 490 people have lost their lives in the province,” he said.

He said that compensation was under distribution, with 2 million rupees granted to families in the deceased, 1 million rupees for completely destroyed houses and partial payments to the injured.
