There is a new technical hub in town, and it is available in a striking color with integrated Bluetooth.
The SL-40CBT technique is a direct drive hub with the same coreless motor technology as the famous SL-1300G, and it has a newly designed high precision aluminum reading.
The SL-40CBT is considerably more affordable than the SL-1300G, and although it is always a high-end product, it is aimed at new vinyl arrivals and people who upgrade from entry-level trays.
Technics SL-40CBT: Key features and price
The SL-40CBT technique has a phono stadium from the integrated deplorable magnet and an audio-technica at-VM95C cartridge adjusted in the factory with a conical stylus. And in addition to the usual material outings, there is Bluetooth streaming with headphones and compatible speakers, although the details of the Bluetooth version and codecs have not been revealed.
The plate has an electronic speed control (33 1/3 and 45 rpm) and the tray is made of molded aluminum with reinforcement ribs and a motor magnet directly mounted for a reliable torque transmission and precise speed.
The most obvious change, of course, is the new color – and the base made from MDF rather than familiar molded aluminum that we expect from technical turntables. Personally, I would go for terracotta, but you can have charcoal or light gray if you prefer something a little less catchy. The hub has also been designed to match the SC-CX700 wireless speakers in Technics, and it is on the insulating feet resistant to vibrations.
The SL-40CBT technique will be available from September 2025 with an American retail price of $ 899 (around £ 679 / $ 1,379 before tax); Prices in other countries will be announced shortly.
