- The claims of the Chatgpt report dominate the AI market, with more than four fifths of the world use of the chatbot
- Perplexity culminated at 14% before slipping into a single figure
- Microsoft Copilot uses office integration to guarantee significant adoption growth
The global IA chatbot market quickly consolidated around a dominant player – the Openai Chatppt, said new figures.
Statcounter data covering July 2024 to August 2025 and on the basis of more than 3.8 billion pages viewed per month on more than 1.5 million websites have shown that Chatgpt currently holds 80.92% of the market.
At its peak in April 2025, Chatgpt represented 84.2% of world use – and even if its share fell in the following months, it continued to hold more than four -fifths of the world market, well in advance on any competitor.
No cat-chat has come closer
The challenge closest to the data set is perplexity, but its position seems less secure when it is seen in its context.
Perplexity reached a summit of 14.1% in March 2025, but slipped to 8.0% in July before recovering slightly at 9.0% in August.
This trajectory reflects a company with visibility on the brand but which has difficulty maintaining a coherent adoption against the momentum of the Openai ecosystem.
Perplexity has tried to distinguish itself by emphasizing the tools, answers and the integration of live research data.
However, its declining market share suggests that novelty alone may not be enough to maintain a competitive advantage against a rival with an overwhelming scale.
One of the most notable quarters in 2025 was the power of Microsoft Copilot.
From only 0.3% in March, Copilot quickly went beyond 5% in May and stabilized in the range of 4 to 5% throughout the summer.
This push shows that Microsoft’s strategy to deeply incorporate AI through its Office and Windows ecosystems works.
Copilot remains far behind Chatgpt, but its regular climb positions it to compete with perplexity for the second place in the world market.
If the integration continues to develop and the dependence of users is developing, it could become the most credible challenger outside of Openai.
The other smaller rivals on the market fight for relevance.
Google Gemini, despite Google’s vast range, held between 1.9% and 3.3% of the market, showing a modest adoption.
Deepseek showed a late increase, culminating at 2.7% in August 2025, while the Claude d’Anthropic remained less than 1.2%.
The figures have a dynamic but highly concentrated market. For the moment, Chatgpt remains dominant, the perplexity is under pressure and Microsoft Copilot regularly catches.
