- Xcy x108 can theoretically manage 204 TB inside a box the size of a shoe box
- The Intel N150 processor offers modest performance with low -power print
- Eight SATA bays allow scale configurations far beyond the storage of 144 to
The Xcy X108 is an unusually compact storage system with a network designed to provide very high capacity in a small speaker.
It supports up to eight 3.5 -inch berries, which, at 18 TB, each provides 144 TB of capacity, or considerably more with discs of 30 TB and 36 to more recent.
When combined with additional M.2 locations, the total theoretical capacity reaches 204 TB, which placed it near the largest hard drive paintings available in the devices of this size.
Internal design and specifications
Slightly larger than two stacked shoe boxes, the Xcy X108 remains of modest size while offering several storage options.
Buyers can choose between versions with four, six or eight bays, depending on capacity requirements.
The system operates on Intel N150, a 10 Nm processor with four cores and four timed threads up to 3.6 GHz.
Although it is not so powerful compared to the hardware of the workstation, its lower energy print can be useful for a device intended for continuous operation.
Intel UHD graphics integrated with 24 execution units can decode the VP9 and H.265 video, including 4K reading at 60 frames per second.
Memory management extends to 32 GB of Sodimm DDR4, which should be sufficient for NAS, routing or light server applications.
For faster storage needs, the chassis accommodates up to three NVME M.2 discs.
The single slot, capped at 1 TB, can be used for the operating system, while two others support up to 4 to each.
With this design, the system can use the best SSD for quick access while devoting its SATA bays to storage of loose data.
The Xcy X108 offers three Ethernet ports: two rated for 2.5 Gbit / s and one to 10 Gbit / s, referring to the ambitions beyond the media servers at home.
Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while display outings are the HDMI 2.0 function and DisplayPort 1.4. Devices are supported via USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB-C ports.
In practice, this combination allows the device to be configured as a router, a multimedia center or a general use server.
At the end of the software, its management of the operating system extends over Linux, OpenWrt, Ikuai, Lede and even Windows 11.
The Xcy X108 is currently available between € 208 (around $ 242) and € 325 (around $ 378), depending on the model chosen.
However, if this small speaker can reliably manage the workloads on a scale involved by its maximum configuration remains uncertain.
