The meteorological authorities warned against the heavy monsoon rains in Karachi on Tuesday, with the possibility of urban floods while strong winds and torrential showers struck the coastal city in its 10th damp spell.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the city can expect moderate to strong showers from Tuesday morning until late at night.

The weather forecasts have warned that “very heavy showers” were likely to pound Karachi today, because a powerful monsoon system maintains its intensity as a deep depression on earth, centered on Tharparkar.

The PMD spokesman said the system would pass near Karachi on Tuesday, warning that the situation in the city “can remain severe”, with winds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour probably during the spell.

“This system produces intense precipitation and could provide more than 100 millimeters of rain in Karachi throughout the fate,” said Anjum Nazir of PMD, warning urban floods due to the bad infrastructure of the city.

Lower areas could be flooded and citizens were invited to avoid low infrastructure and stay inside for intense showers.

In other parts of the Sindh, the weather service has recorded up to 80 millimeters of rain in the last spell.

Karachi’s beaten drainage system cannot resist a lot, and the memories of the flooded streets and blocked shuttle are always fresh.

However, the authorities are trying to seem calm because the traffic police states that their police officers are on the ground to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles.

“We are active in all cities to avoid jams,” said Dig Traffic, adding that the measures have been taken on the instructions of the chief Minister. The information service also said that traffic is moving normally throughout the city.

However, the risk is hung while the electric electric, which manages the city’s power supply, has become very alert. His spokesperson said that over 2,100 feeders, less than 60 were affected in recent rains. In certain low areas and places with illegal connections, the power was cut as a precaution.

For the moment, Karachi traffic remains under control and electricity is mainly stable. But the real test will start once the first heavy spell is released. The city is waiting, hoping for it will no longer be drowned.
