An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Lahore brought up Tuesday from ten years to ten years to senior Pakistani leaders Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, for their presumed involvement in the criminal fire of a convoy vehicle of a high court judge during the demonstrations of May 9, 2023.
The verdict was announced by the ATC judge Manzar Ali Gul, after having concluded the trial in prison in a case recorded under FIR n ° 109/23 at the Sarwar Road police station. The incident took place in the midst of generalized demonstrations following the arrest of the founder of PTI, Imran Khan.
In addition to the former provincial minister of health, the governor of Punjab, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and the Ejaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmood Rasheed party leaders also received 10 -year mandates. PTI supporter Khadija Shah was sentenced and awarded a five -year imprisonment.
The court, however, acquitted the vice-president of the PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi and two women Rubina Jamil and Afshan Tariq for insufficient evidence.

A total of 51 people, including five women, were appointed to the case, 39 of which underwent a complete procedure of trial held in prison premises, while 12 were declared to the run.
This is the third condemnation of Dr. Yasmin in relation to the violence of May 9. The 72 -year -old has already been sentenced to ten years in prison by an ATC in Lahore on July 22. In this case, the court acquitted six PTI leaders, including Qureshi and Hamza Azeem, while condemning ten other people.
A special ATC in Faisalabad, July 31, sentenced 108 PTI leaders – including Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, Mna Sahibzada Hamid Raza and former Mna Sheikh Rashid Shafiq – ten years in prison in connection with similar incidents while 77 others were acquitted.
On August 12, the same ATC to Lahore condemned Dr. Yasmin, Cheema, Chaudhry and Rasheed, sentenced them to ten years in prison. The leaders of the PTI Aliya Hamza and Sanam Javed were also sentenced in this case and each received a five -year term.
