Xander Schauffele will not participate in the Procore championship with his Ryder Cup teammates for a good reason. He is at home with his newborn son.
Schauffele, 31, told the Associated Press that his wife, Maya, had recently given birth to a boy whom they appointed Victor.
Schauffele had an exceptional 2024 season when he won the PGA and Open championship.

The native of California did not have the same success this season. Schauffele missed a few months at the start of the season with a coast injury.
He maintained his sequence not to miss a cup of 36 holes, and he made 71 cups in a row but did not win a tournament this season. Schauffele was in the top 10 in two of the four majors this season – the masters and the open – but were not in the top five.
Schauffele automatically qualified for the United States team Ryder Cup because of its success in 2024. It will be its third time at the Ryder Cup.

Schauffele and Bryson Dechambeau are the only two members of the United States team Ryder Cup who do not participate in the Procore championship. Dechambeau does not participate because he is not a member of the PGA Tour.
Schauffele told AP last month that he was not sure to play in Napa, California, depended mainly on the moment when the baby was born and because he needed a break in the milling.

“If I don’t think playing will help me, then I won’t play,” he said during the BMW championship.
The Ryder Cup begins on September 26, when the United States is trying to take revenge on the European team for its defeat in 2023 with Bethpage Black.
