Pakistan and Hong Kong signed a memorandum of understanding to improve cooperation in legal affairs, during the belt and road summit held in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary of Federal Law Raja Naeem Akbar and the Secretary of Justice of Hong Kong.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the two parties agreed to cooperate on legal issues and capacity building, Hong Kong being ready to provide training in Pakistan in arbitration and the settlement of alternative disputes. The partnership will also extend to digital governance and the regulation of virtual assets.
“This agreement reflects legal reforms and institutional improvement,” said Raja Naeem Akbar after the signature ceremony.
The officials said that development mark the start of a new phase of legal and regulatory cooperation between Pakistan and Hong Kong.
Pakistan and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the development of farming and industrialization at the end of last week.
