Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took note on Wednesday the situation of the floods in Karachi and in certain parts of the Sindh, ordering the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to extend full support in rescue efforts.
In a press release from the PM office, the Prime Minister called for coordinated action between NDMA and Sindh Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) to ensure effective rescue and rehabilitation operations.
“Federal and Sindh governments are fully mobilized to deal with the flood situation,” he said, stressing that assistance to affected families should be absolute priority. He also expressed his pain in the face of the deaths caused by the floods in the GaDap watercourse, where several citizens were carried away in the torrential current.

He asked all the authorities concerned to accelerate the search for missing persons and to ensure a timely assistance for the victims of flooding. “The awareness campaign should still be activated to inform the public of the flood situation to protect citizens,” he added.
The Prime Minister praised the current rescue operations carried out by rescue 1122, the Pakistani army and the Rangers in Karachi, where several regions remain overwhelmed due to the recent downpour.
He also called for rapid action to restore damaged roads and communication networks between affected regions, warning that delays could hinder emergency delivery and emergency mobility.

Karachi was struck by another range of intense monsoon rains, flood waters entering the residential areas, damaging the infrastructure and crushing the city’s drainage system. The emergency teams are on alert, while several key routes have been closed or diverted due to the increase in water levels.
In Konkar Nadi of Gadap Town, a rickshaft and two vehicles with seven people on board were swept away by flood waters. Until now, the rescue teams have recovered four bodies, including a woman and her son, while research continues the missing.
The Thado dam has overflowed, sending torrents to the M – 9 motorway – now eliminated. The superhigne near the Al Habib restaurant has been overwhelmed, forcing a complete disruption of traffic between Karachi and Hyderabad.

The national motorway and highway police confirmed that flood waters crossed the border of the highway, while the barriers were removed to allow a controlled flow.
The low suburbs near the Super Highway have seen water depths up to five feet. The rescue teams, deployed quickly, endeavor to evacuate the residents. “The central barrier of the highway has been withdrawn to divert the circulation of floods and reopen,” said a spokesperson for house CM.
The floods ravaged the city of Saadi, Malir, Sohrab Goth, the Machchar colony, Khamisu Jhokhio Goth and New Karachi. It is reported that many vehicles have been swept away by flood waters. The 1122 rescue teams, the Edhi Foundation and the Rangers are in the affected areas to help with the help of blocked people.
