An American citizen of Pakistani origin approached the High Court of Islamabad (IHC), asking for help to retrace her husband and two minor children, who were reportedly brought to Pakistan instead of being taken for Omra.
The petitioner, Ghulam Ghausia Akhunzada, told court that she had married Muhammad Owais Tariq, a resident of Taxila, in January 2014. After their marriage, Tariq settled in the United States, where the couple had two sons – Arham, 8, and Haider, 5.
She said that her husband had taken the passports of children on the pretext of playing Omra, but rather went to Pakistan without her consent.
“My husband has several addresses in Pakistan. I looked for him and the children but I could not find them,” she said, adding that a local court in the United States had already tried in his favor.
The petitioner asked the court to ask the authorities to locate her husband and order her to give custody of the children. During the hearing, the IHC judge, Muhammad Asif, ordered the Director General of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency to tracer Tariq and to submit a full report by Thursday.
