Islamabad:
The Prime Minister’s Committee on Damage Damage of Floods at Azad Jammu-et-Cachemire (AJK) has decided to adopt a coordinated and transparent approach to assess losses and rehabilitation costs, following a high-level meeting presided over by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr Musadik Malik on Wednesday.
The Committee approved a “triangulated” methodology involving the AJK government, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), supported by technical experts, to produce precise and contextualized estimates of the damages of the floods.
“The objective is to ensure reliable data that can guide transparent decision -making and effective use of resources for rehabilitation,” said Dr. Malik at the meeting.
The meeting stressed that this effort combined will help rationalize the reports and allow a well -informed set of recommendations to present to the Prime Minister. The committee will meet in the coming days to finalize its report for the action and allocation of the necessary resources.
Recent floods at AJK have seriously damaged houses, roads and infrastructure, pressure authorities to accelerate recovery efforts.
