- Microsoft’s new world hybrid working policy is a fair compromise, three days
- The workers of Redmond and Puget Sound will be the first affected workers
- Microsoft’s policy is not as intense as others
Microsoft’s head of Chief Persons of Microsoft, Amy Coleman announced a modification on the scale of the company with current attendance requirements, employees should face a mandate of three days from 2026.
The change should be deployed in a three -step movement – Puget Sound / Redmond workers will be among the first to comply with the three -day office policy from the end of February 2026.
After that, other American locations will follow the step before the change deployed worldwide.
Microsoft updates its hybrid working policy
“Our objective with this change is to provide more clarity and consistency in the way we meet, while maintaining the flexibility that we know that you appreciate,” said Coleman.
Microsoft’s office to return to the office (RTO) affects workers at less than 50 miles from a Puget Sound office, but the company has shared any similar details for its US and global employees.
For the moment, Puget Sound-Area employees have until September 19 to file an exception.
The company pushes better collaboration in person, energy, empowerment and results as key engines behind its RTO mandate. “The most significant breakthroughs occur when we rely together on the ideas of the other, in real time,” added Coleman.
Although this may be one of the impactful policies in terms of accommodation, the change in Microsoft occurs several months – or more – after other giants in this space increased their office work requirements.
Google, Meta, Dell, Intel, IBM and Zoom all offer three -day mandates +, while Amazon asks workers to be in a company’s site five days a week.
Workers outside the Sound area of Puget, where Microsoft has its registered office, can expect how change will affect them in the weeks and months to come. Workers’ planning outside the United States will start in 2026.
Microsoft said that he had nothing more to share with regard to his plans for employees at the American and global scale at the moment.
