Mullvad has deployed Quic Obfuscation for Wireguard, aimed at making VPN traffic more difficult to spot and block by sophisticated firewalls.
Designed with users in highly censored regions in mind, this last update disguises Wired traffic as ordinary web traffic, offering a more reliable connection in countries such as China and Russia, which greatly accelerate or block regular traffic.
How does the quic work and why is important
Quic, abbreviated for the UDP Internet connections, is a quick and light transport protocol built on UDP. It was initially designed by Google as a faster and more resilient replacement for TCP in HTTP / 2. It is now used as the emerging HTTP / 3 standard.

The new feature, now available via VPN Windows and Mac applications from Mullvad (version 2025.9), is intentional in the settings.
However, users who experience several stranded connection attempts will see the application return automatically in Quic depending on the default parameters of the application.
If you are a Mullvad subscriber, simply update your Mullvad Desktop application to access this latest feature, accessible via Parameters > VPN settings > Parameters > Obscure > Quic.
Mobile users also need to feel excluded. Mullvad has already confirmed that its Android and iOS applications will also receive the obscure of anyone in future updates.
How Mullvad’s Quic is accompanied by other major VPNs
