The Center “Accepts KP talks with Kabul”

Peshawar:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur said on Wednesday that the federal government had expressed its desire to initiate talks with Afghanistan through the provincial government.

Addressing journalists after an event as part of the framing of new rules and regulations in the Provincial Assembly, the chief minister Gandapur declared that the center had in principle agreed to KP establishing contacts with Kabul.

“In these discussions, some representatives will belong to them and some. [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran] Khan said negotiations with Afghanistan should move forward, “Gandapur told journalists.

However, he pointed out that the provinces do not have the power to dialogue with foreign countries. “This authority is based on the federal government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said. He said the center had sent him a message to start contact with Afghanistan.

The chief minister also complained that his passport has remained blocked since May 9, 2023. “This is the situation in the country-a passport of a chief minister was blocked. I applied, but they do not issue one,” he noted.

He also allegedly alleged that he had not been authorized to meet the founder of the PTI, but insisted that he would always follow instructions if he was ordered. “If my president [Imran] Direct, I will go to Afghanistan even without passport, “he said.

Mandates

On Wednesday, the Islamabad district and sessions court issued an arrest warrant against the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, in the long-standing case of the alcohols and the resumption of arms, after he did not appear before the court.

During a hearing, the judge, the magistrate Mubashhir Hassan Chishti rejected the request for exemption from Gandapur of personal appearance and ordered that he was arrested and presented to the court on September 17, in the case registered against him at the Bara Kahu police station.

Gandapur lawyer Raja Zahoorul Hassan, asked the court to suspend the mandates. The court rejected the plea, declaring: “You produce the accused and I will cancel the mandates.” He said that a junior lawyer could have asked for a new hearing date, which would have been planned.

During previous hearings, the court noted that he had given K Gandapur amply the opportunity and warned that a verdict could be issued in his absence if he had not appeared. “No other distribution will be granted if the declaration is not recorded by July 21,” said the magistrate in a written order.

The case dates back to October 2016, when Islamabad police have recovered five Kalashnikov assault rifles, a pistol, six magazines, a bulletproof vest, alcohol and three tear gas bursts of a vehicle belonging to the Gala of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) near Bani Gala.

Gandapur has always denied allegations, declaring that he was traveling with two approved Kalashnikov rifles and that a valid weapon license was present in the vehicle. He also said that the bottle containing alcohol actually contained honey.
