Rawalpindi:
The marshal of the army chief (COAS), Asim Munir, underlined the importance of good governance and the closer civil-military coordination to fight against the challenges of the floods and support the affected communities, said the media wing on Saturday.
According to inter-service public relations (ISPR), the army chief visited the areas affected by the floods in the Kasur sector and the flood rescue camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, to examine the situation and assess the current rescue operations.

The visit focused on “improving the synergy between civil administration and the military to ensure effective assistance for the affected population,” the ISPR said. The chief secretary of Punjab and other senior civilian civil servants were also present.
During the visit, Munnir received a detailed briefing on the field situation, including the current rescue and rescue operations. Interacting with civil administration officials, he highlighted the importance of “good governance and inclusive progress and focused on people”.
He said all necessary measures, including the development of infrastructure, should be accelerated to protect people from damage caused by recurring floods. “The state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and goods each year,” he said.

Asim Munnir has also reaffirmed “the unshakable commitment of the Pakistani army to support all the initiatives aimed at public well-being”, stressing that the coordinated civil-military efforts were crucial to meet the challenges encountered by the communities struck by the floods, added the ISPR.
During his interaction with the evacuated, the chief of the army provided them with continuous support for resettlement and rehabilitation. Displaced residents expressed their gratitude to the army for what they described as timely assistance for a critical period.
The ISPR also declared that the military chief had also met troops, rescue workers 1122 and the police engaged in rescue operations. He congratulated their morale, operational preparation and “24 -hour efforts, carried out in close coordination with the civil administration, to provide relief and assisted assistance to the people”.

The army chief then carried out air recognition of the areas affected by the floods along the axes of Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala to assess the damage and monitor the emergency work. He was received upon his arrival by the commanders of the body of Lahore and Multan.
