Geekom, a company best known for its mini PC range, has entered a more competitive space with its first thin and light laptops.
The Geekbook X14 Pro is only 16.9 mm thick, weighs only 999 g and uses a durable aluminum alloy chassis with a 135 ° hinge.
Its out-of-competition feature is a 14-inch OLED screen at 2880 x 1800 and 100%DCI-P3 coverage, which is roughly a number of 5 megapixel pixels.
Not bad for a first attempt
Under the hood, the X14 Pro offers Core Ultra 200h “Arrow Lake-H” processors from Intel associated with integrated arc graphics.
These chips combine the Lion Cove and Skymont processor nuclei but omit Lunar Lake2 graphics.
This raises doubts if Geekom has chosen the best CPU configuration for sustained performance.
However, as it is the first attempt of the company, it probably tests the waters with a modest CPU.
The power print of this device peaks at 35 W, which is typical for light systems but could limit demanding tasks.
The memory is welded LPDDR5 operating at 7,500 MHz, with an ability of up to 32 GB, which means that there is no possibility of upgrading.
However, there is only one SSD M.2 2280 NVME location which provides storage, which can be restrictive for users awaiting several readers.
The laptop is powered by a 70Wh battery, which is a relatively high capacity for a device weighing within a kilogram.
In theory, this battery can support long hours of typical productivity tasks before needing recharge.
The battery is associated with a GAN USB-C 65W charger, chosen for its efficiency and small shape factor.
For connectivity, this device is delivered with HDMI 2.0, a USB-C of 40 Gbit / s, a USB-A of 5 Gbit / s and a headphone jack.
The wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6th and Bluetooth 5.4, while DTS speakers: X Ultra suggest attention to audio quality.
This device also includes a keyboard of 78 backlit keys, and a fingerprint reader with electric key completes the input options.
At the time of writing the editorial staff, Geekom did not announce price or liberation dates, which makes the X14 pro competitiveness against established brands difficult.
During the same event, Geekom also revealed the Geekbook X16 Pro. This greater option uses an IPS 2560 x 1600 1600 panel, transports a 75Wh battery, offers double SSD locations and weighs 1299 g.
Together, these two devices show that Geekom aims beyond PC mini-products, but their ultimate value depends on competitive prices and opinions.
