Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered electricity distribution companies on Saturday to immediately stop the collection of electricity bills for August 2025 from the regions affected by the floods across the country, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The announcement was made at a high -level meeting convened to examine the situation in the areas affected by recent floods. The Prime Minister noted that a full rescue set for these regions would be finalized after the conclusion of current discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Prime Minister also ordered that the invoices of August already paid by consumers affected by the floods are adjusted during the next billing cycle, offering direct financial compensation to households struggling with the disaster.

“Millions of people have been moved and affected by these devastating floods,” said the Prime Minister at the meeting. “In this difficult period, we make every effort to alleviate the pain of our people.”
He added that the federal and provincial institutions remained entirely mobilized in the efforts of rescue, rescue and rehabilitation in progress.
“We will not rest until each victim of the floods returned to their home,” he said, reaffirming government’s commitment to long-term resumption.
The floods triggered by the intense monsoon rains this year and the swollen rivers have killed at least 946 people in Pakistan since the end of June and have flooded large agricultural land.
Authorities said the floods have overwhelmed more than 4,500 villages and assigned more than 4.4 million people in the province since the end of August. They added that at least 2.4 million people had been evacuated so far.
