Robert Irwin says he is closer than ever to the late Papa Steve

Robert Irwin broke up 19 years after the death of Papa Steve

Robert Irwin, the son of the beloved crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, spoke of his link with his late father.

In an interview People magazine, Robert, who was only 2 years old when Steve died tragically in the accident in 2006, revealed that he felt closer to his father now.

Robert, 21, said: “The passing time is so wild, how much my father spent almost two decades.”

“He is still part of everyday,” he added.

Robert then noted: “He is part of each conversation. He is part of my life. And I have the impression of recovering a small part of him in one way or another, in each conversation that I have about him, or any new story that I hear about him, or on any new photo that I have never seen before.”

“While I start to reach the same kind of milestones he has made as a young guy growing up, yes, I feel closer to him in a way,” he said.

Adding: “I really do it. My father is like a superhero figure. He’s like that omnipresent, just a superhero for me. And I am so grateful, because even if I did not have much time with my father, I have a human being who illustrates everything I want to be in life.”

Robert Irwin also said that just like his father, he prefers to “play with crocodiles all day” that an office work.

He said, “I think losing someone as important as he has a so young age solidified the idea that life is fragile.”

“We don’t know what tomorrow has in store for us, so you have to take calculated risks, you have to have fun, take advantage of what you do and give everything 100%,” added Robert.

“He always guides me somehow,” he noted.
