The mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, underlined the tensions between the People’s Pakistan and Jamaat-E-Islami on Monday at a press conference.
With the city in shock of a second wave of monsoon rain, Wahab accused Ji of using a catastrophe caused by the rain to denigrate the name of the PPP, saying that the opposition party had spread the false propaganda.
“I came today to inform Karachi’s people about the facts. Our political opponents launched a negative propaganda concerning the Hub channel and Shahrah-E-Bhutto.”
The mayor of Karachi had started the press conference, urging those to keep the political differences outside the equation when the disaster strikes, and yet his finger has never stopped pointing.
In the last rain spell, many city transport arteries had been damaged. Wahab claims that this damage was exaggerated: “Haleem Adil Sheikh arrived and said that the hub channel had been swept away. In reality, only a 20 -meter part of the hub channel was damaged. This 20 -meter section was immediately repaired in 48 hours.”

The torrential rains paralyzed Karachi last week, flooding the districts, sweeping the vehicles and killing at least four people, while more than 400 were rescued while the army joined the civil authorities in the rescue operations in the flooded areas.
The commuters endured on Thursday of the traffic blocks of several hours while the closure of the key roads paralyzed the movement of vehicles on the major arteries connecting Korangi, the defense and the center of Karachi.
According to the city mayor, Shahrah-e-Bhutto was usable, and all speculation concerning its closure during the second rain spell were a tied of propaganda.
What is confirmed is that a sudden flood in the Malir river caused significant damage to the Shahrah-E-Bhutto subcontrust to Malir Jam Goth. The flood waters have swept the road, creating a space several feet wide and deeply.

The closure of Korangi Crossing, Malir River Causeway and EBM Causeway due to flood waters disrupted the traffic flow in the early morning until late at night on September 10.
A massive congestion of traffic was reported on Korangi Road, Qayyumabad Chowrangi, Jam Sadiq Bridge, Baloch Colony Expressway, Brooks Chowrangi and Defense Signal, where vehicles have been stuck in long lines for hours.
Wahab’s explanation for chaos of traffic paralyzing Karachi was simple, “whenever such a situation occurs, naturally, damage occurs”.
He retaliated with his own set of accusations, saying that Jamaat-I-Islami had received 27 billion rupees, “all tax revenue goes to the city presidents, but they still do not do work”.
Giving up again silence on the subject, Wahab accused Ji, declaring that Ji had filed a legal case alleging that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) marketed the Karachi parks. He doubled, with allegations that the member of the JI, Saifuddin, lied under oath when he was presented to the court.
“It was Naimatullah Khan who marketed the Karachi roads.”
Wahab has pointed out more fingers, namely Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, suggesting that Model Colony Town received 2.5 billion rupees, and “yet no road has been built”.
