Peshawar:
Two new polio cases were confirmed in the districts of Lakki Marwat and Northern Waziristan in southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) confirmed on Monday. The last cases this year bear the total number of polio infections in Pakistan this year.
The Neoc said that high quality vaccination campaigns were underway in southern KP to contain the virus. “Polio campaigns help protect children from this incurable disease,” he said, adding that fresh records had started in southern KP, Bajaur and Upper Dir.
The NEOC said only more than 1.685 million children under the age of five would be targeted in this week’s campaign. “Parents are invited to make sure their children receive Polio decreases in each campaign,” he said.
