The federal government has approved a high -speed modern rail project that will link Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The project, after completion, will reduce the journey time between twin cities at only 20 minutes.
The initiative, in addition to reducing journey time, will also reduce fuel consumption, will facilitate the congestion of traffic and offer people a quick and affordable transport option.
The decision was made at a high -level meeting on Monday chaired by the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi and the Minister of Railways Hanif Abbasi.
The Minister of State in the Interior Talal Chaudhry, as well as senior officials, notably the Federal Interior Secretary, the Secretary of the Railways, President of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Rawalpindi Commissioner, Inspector General of the Islamabad police and representatives of the Frontier Corps also attended the meeting.
The framework agreement for the project will be finalized and signed next week. As part of the plan, the Ministry of Railways will provide track infrastructure while the ADC will manage the service.
The government has also decided to import advanced trains to ensure modern, comfortable and effective operations.
Speaking after the meeting, the Minister of Railways, Hanif Abbasi, described the new milestone rail service for public well-being, stressing that residents would be able to travel between the two cities quickly and conveniently.
Minister of State Talal Chaudhry described the new service as a low -cost and high -speed option which will considerably reduce traffic pressure on the roads connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Managers believe that high -speed rail will not only transform travel, but also promote economic activity and environmental sustainability. By offering a faster and more effective travel mode, the project should mark a new chapter in urban transport for twin cities.
