Netflix The night agent will come back without one of its central stars. Luciane Buchanan confirmed that she would not resume her role as Rose Larkin in the third season.
Buchanan played opposite Peter Sutherland by Gabriel Basso during the first two seasons of the successful political thriller, depicting the technological entrepreneur who became the side-super who helped the Rogue FBI agent.
“As much this program was so incredible, especially for my career – being an advance on an American program of Little New Zealand was such a whirlwind – the writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his trip according to what happened at the end of season 2,” said Buchanan Deadline.
According to PeopleSeason 2 ended with Peter and Rose stopped a fatal attack on the UN headquarters in New York, before separating when Peter urged him not to look for him again.
“We do not see what happens to Rose,” said Buchanan about his release. “But I think it’s a really exciting period for the show, and who knows, it’s not a farewell forever.”
In addition, the actress revealed that she had learned shortly after season 2 in January that her character would not return.
She praised the creative team for having chosen not to reduce the role of Rose, adding: “If that makes sense to a story, I will do it. If this is not the case, let’s not for it.”
Showrunner Shawn Ryan echoes this feeling, says Deadline, “We have always considered the show as telling a new story every season with a renewable cast, and the story that we broke out for season 3, to our Dam, did not have a satisfactory place for Rose.”
While Buchanan went to play alongside Jason Momoa in Apple TV + WarlordShe has not excluded a return to The night agent, “Maybe we will do a little cameo along the way.”
