Add the Houston Texans to the list of teams who used their home game during the NFL 2 calendar 2 to stop for a pre-match moment, although the team’s effort before Monday evening’s match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not mention Charlie Kirk.

Around 6:40 p.m. or about 20 minutes before kick -off, the Texans broadcast this message on their public speech at the stadium at the NRG stadium:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we ask all families to join us in a moment of silence to honor all the victims of violence and natural disasters across the country.

“We hope that together, we condemn all forms of violence. Thank you.”

The pre-match program break lasted 10 seconds. He was broadcast on ESPN.

Outkick asked Texans earlier if they planned to have a sort of pre-match moment for Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA who was killed last week.

Texans did not want to minimize anyone

Seven other NFL teams organizing home matches have chosen to have such moments of silence or reflection. Five had decided not to have moments of silence which mentioned Kirk.

These home teams have made their own decisions on what to do in relation to Kirk. The NFL, on the other hand, decided to make a moment of silent reflection mandated by the League before the match of the Packers of Green Bay at the Field Lambeau.

The Texans sent an explanation to Overkick to explain why Kirk’s name was not mentioned.

“We organized a pre-match moment of silence to honor all the victims of violence and natural disasters across the country,” the club said in a statement. “Unfortunately, there have been a number of recent tragedies, so we don’t think it was appropriate to distinguish any of them and minimize the others that occurred.”

So, obviously, the Texans would say that they were addressed to the assassination of Kirk although, you know, they did not approach the assassination of Kirk by name.

Dallas Cowboys did it well

It should be noted that the Dallas Cowboys, the other NFL club in Texas, absolutely held a pre-match tribute to Kirk. And the owner of the club, Jerry Jones, explained his reflection on the question thereafter.

There remains a game of the NFL which remains on the calendar and it is the raiders of Las Vegas which welcome the charges of Los Angeles at 10 p.m.

Outkick contacted the raiders to ask questions on their plans for a pre -match moment – do it, not do it.

Admittedly, we did not ask the raiders if they did without, you know, completely mentioning Kirk – a hybrid approach to a tribute that the Texans designed on Monday evening.
