Rawalpindi:
Feasibility studies have been launched to promote tourism in the Tehsils hill of Murrier and Kotli Sattian, covering a series of ambitious projects that include two new chair, the first theme bridge in Sky Glass in Pakistan, a Pods Glamping village and an ultramodern theme park.
Studies, supported by an allowance of 150 million rupees, should be completed within three months.
Kotli Sattian, renowned for its natural beauty, is also designated as the model tourism of Punjab Tehsil. A chairlift is planned for the lush but rugged mountain range by Panj Peer, while another will be installed in a newly identified tourist place in Murrier.
The Sky Glass Bridge proposed for Murrier will be the first of its kind in Pakistan, with feasibility work already underway. The theme parks of the modern jungle are also envisaged for the two Tehsils, the private sector should play a role in their development.
Currently, Murrier and Kotli Sattian organize only a limited number of Pod Glamping villages; These will now be widened and established on two or three additional sites. Boy Scouts and girls should also be involved in these initiatives.
Speaking to the media, Asim Raza, managing director of the Punjab tourism development company (TDCP), underlined the extraordinary natural charm of the two Tehsils of the Rawalpindi division. “Kotli Sattian is now our main objective. It emerges as a new tourist destination, with green forests, rugged mountains, waterfalls and natural springs,” he noted.
