Cillian Murphy says anticipation around his new film Steve Always has it at the limit, even after positive early criticism.
Steve, who follows only one day in a school for boys with behavioral and social difficulties, was created at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year to warm comments and currently has a 72% note on Rotten tomatoes.
However, Murphy says that the real test is still in advance. “You are still nervous,” he said about his personal experience by playing the titular character and produced the film through Big Things Films, his business with longtime collaborator Alan Moloney.
“So I haven’t finished as long as the public sees it. I’m very proud of it,” he told The Press.
When asked if production increased pressure, he admitted: “It’s doubly nervous because that’s what makes him more stressful!” Yes, but the reaction has been brilliant so far. ”
Murphy said the reactions of educators and caregivers had been particularly significant. “Teachers and social workers, you know, the caregivers, they really answered the film and it was really the people who succeeded.”
His own parents, both retired teachers, have not yet seen Steve. “My mother and father did not see him, and they are retired teachers, so I can’t wait to see him,” he shared with a smile. When asked if he was nervous about their reaction, he joked: “No, they saw everything, so they are well used.”
THE Oppenheimer And Imperfections Star, 49, also described the role of the director Steve as emotionally trying.
“It’s like doing something for 16, 17 hours a day, that’s what’s going on, you finish … There is an exchange of atoms, I think. And you just need a rest after that,” said Murphy. “It’s not about shaking up. It’s about a lot of outstanding energy, I suppose. “
Steve Will be in some theaters of the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland from September 19, 2025 before hit Netflix worldwide on October 3, 2025.
