Democrats at Congress call for a mistake on the status of Trump’s Crypto Tsar David Sacks

President Donald Trump’s best adviser on crypto, David Sacks, works in the status of “special government employee” which is supposed to be for civil servants serving an important but temporary duty with the federal government, and senator Elizabeth Warren wrote a letter with other Democrats in the Congress asking him if he has passed this window.

Such an employee is not authorized to serve more than 130 days a year, according to the law, and the Wednesday letter in Sacks asks him to put a number on the days when the leading venture capital worked for Trump in the role of crypto and artificial intelligence TSAR. Under the rules, any day he carried out work counts against this 130, although in certain agencies, the limit was generally governed by an estimate of “good faith” of the duration of the official’s operation.

“If you worked every working day, your 130th day was July 25, 2025”, according to the letter signed by Warren and several other members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, including Bernie Sanders. The legislators have qualified their schedule for this calendar since the start of January 20 of the administration, an “investigation”.

“If you have indeed succeeded in the 130th day, you compromise the meticulous balance that Congress has found in the creation of the SGE designation. It is only because of your designation as SGE for which you were able to continue working and be paid by crafts during your stay in government”, read the letter.

Trump used temporary employment status in a very publicized way, also employing the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, as such. The staff tool is designed to be used to provide expertise to the government without having to erase certain bureaucratic hoops from typical hiring. Earlier this year, other Congress Democrats pushed a bill which sought to prevent these employees from using the role of financial gain, and Warren also continued legislation to limit the Sges.

There were more than 170 working days that Trump took office. Since then, Sacks has managed the president’s aggressive pro -Crypto agenda, which has so far celebrated a new major law to regulate American Stablecoin issuers – leading to a white house signature ceremony to which the bags have attended.

He also acted as the boss of the daily advisor of the cryptography of the administration, which had originally been Bo Hines until he left to work to Tether as an American framework. Patrick Witt replaced Hines as Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, and he told Coindesk that he was still working in close collaboration with the bags.
