Kimmel accused the conservatives of having reached “new stockings” on Monday trying to pinpoint a left -wing ideology on the 22 -year -old suspect, Tyler Robinson, even if the prosecutors reaffirmed these links during the indictment on Tuesday.
“We have struck new stockings during the weekend with the gang Maga trying desperately to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and do everything they can to score political points,” said Kimmel.
Kimmel’s comments occurred one day after FBI officials and the Governor of Utah Spencer Cox said Robinson had a “left -wing ideology” and was increasingly radicalized in recent years. It was also revealed that he had a romantic relationship with a transgender partner who was biologically male and going to a woman.
Nexstar Media Group, which has hundreds of television channels, announced earlier that it would preempt Kimmel’s program on its ABC affiliates from Wednesday evening “in the foreseeable future” and would replace it with other programs on its comments on Robinson.
Sinclair called for more action.
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive to a critical moment for our country,” said the vice-president of Sinclair, Jason Smith in a statement. “We believe that the broadcasters are responsible for educating and raising a respectful constructive dialogue in our communities. We are now appreciating the remarks of the President of the FCC, and this incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory measures to combat the control of local broadcasters by major national networks.”
Democratic legislators, actor Ben Stiller and others also criticized ABC.
