Karachi: Pakistan opened its campaign at the Commonwealth Beach handball championship with a 2-0 resounding victory against Archrival India on Thursday.
Playing on the Khedhufushi City Beach handball field, Pakistan dominated the two sets to record a commanding victory. Pakistan won the first set 26-9 before increasing the pace in the second, going to a finish of 34-12.
Ahmed Hassan Baig delivered an out -of -competition performance for Pakistan and was appointed the man of the match.
The event, from September 18 to 24, includes six participating teams. The competition is played on a league base, the first four advancing in the semi-finals.
Pakistan will then face the Maldives and Sri Lanka on Friday.
In a moment of contrast to the recent tensions in cricket between the two nations, Indian handball players chose not to violate the spirit of sport and hugged Pakistani players.
