Until now, most viewers have known little about the Argus agent represented by Sol Rodriguez. But, thanks to a few key scenes from the fifth entry of this season, entitled “Back to the Suture”, Bordeaux is not as much an enigma as it was presented.
Complete spoilers immediately follow for Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 5, entitled “Back to the suture”.
The first major revelation in Bordeaux emerges during the establishment between Chris Smith and the Argus agents trying to stop it at the Kupperberg Park. None of the assembled groups has a clear blow on their target because Smith took agent Clyne hostage and draped them on his shoulders to use it as a protective shield.
Bordeaux cue of the intervention. Informing the chief of Argus Rick Flag Sr that Smith is locked in a turn model – essentially, Smith moving in a circle on the spot to keep an eye on the staff approaching – she says that she has a clear blow and, if she takes it, it will be fatal.
In a movement that will surprise many viewers, he revealed that Bordeaux is in fact part-Android; His right robotic eye and 0.002% of the failure rate are calculated rate.
Fortunately for Smith, Emilia Harcourt makes a last second intervention which prevents Bordeaux from killing the holder anti-hero. Okay, he mastered, arrested and transported to the siege of Argus to, as we see later, be heavily beaten by the SR flag, but at least the metahuman known as Peacemaker is not really dead. Hey, you take the victories where you can.
Anyway, back in Argus, Harcourt finds John Economos and the persuades of “reserving” Smith, so there is an arrest record, which will prevent the SR flag from making Smith disappear-that is to say to take off.
It is during this conversation that we learn more in Bordeaux, with savings revealing that it is a cyborg. Continuing, Economos says that, following an almost deadly plane crash, Argus replaced half of his body, which had been mutilated in this disaster, with machines and other technologies to save his life.
Why the original story of Sasha Bordeaux was to be modified in season 2 Peacemaker 2
The original story of Bordeaux in the DC (DCU) universe is not entirely different from part of its background frame in the comics. Indeed, Bordeaux is transformed into a type of cyborg known as Omac (Omni Mind and Community or, to use the abbreviation of origin, the construction of observational metal activity). OMACs are humans who have been transformed into robots by a virus created by Maxwell Lord to kill metahumans.
However, the origins of Bordeaux were to be modified for season 2 Peacemaker – and, by proxy, the DCU – for a great reason: Batman.
In the comics, Bordeaux is initially introduced as a working service agent who has become private who hired the head of the Bryce Wayne security team. Without entering the nity-Gritty of all his bow to date, Bordeaux * Deep Breath * learns Wayne is Batman, begins to patrol Gotham City by his side, falls in love with Caped Crusader, is co-developed for the murder of the ex-girlfriend of Wayne, who dies almost in prison, said Cyborg.
Considering that The Dark Knight has not yet been completely presented in the DCU – We know that it is already active, however, because of its Comée de Silhouetted Creature commandos Episode 6 – Lots of heavy lifting would have been required on PeacemakerThe part to explain the Bordeaux background frame with Bordeaux precision. In this sense, simplifying its origins in the DCU was the best option available for James Gunn and Company.
This does not mean that Bordeaux could not cross paths with The Dark Knight in another DCU Chapter One project. We already know that a Batman film, entitled The courageous and the fatis at the start of development in DC Studios. Addressing Techradar before the return of Peacemaker, Rodriguez admitted that she would like to appear in The courageous and the fatBut I did not know if Gunn would include it as part of its distribution.
Of course, in order to meet Batman, Bordeaux has to survive the last three episodes of one of the best HBO Max programs second season. Given Gunn’s penchant for having killed the characters without guarantee, there is no guarantee that it will arrive at the end.
Anyway, what do you think of this cropping of the original tale of Bordeaux? Does it work? Are you upset not to follow your motorized advertising literary background frame? Let me know in the comments.
