The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) decided, for the first time in the province, to provide installations of Cyberknife and TEP (POSITRON Emission Tomography) for cancer patients.
The Radiochurgery Cyberknife Radiochuruse services and CT scan will be made available to the Medical Complex Hayatabad in Peshawar.
“The Cyberknife system is a non -invasive treatment for cancer and non -cancerous tumors and other conditions where radiotherapy is indicated. Due to the absence of TEP installations in KP, cancer patients had already been forced to request treatment from Karachi and other provinces. Proposals have already been requested by companies for the project,” said Advisor Ehtesham Ali.
“The Cyberknife system will provide non -surgical and very precise radiosurgery for complex and inoperable tumors, said Ehtesham Ali. PET / ADD will allow a rapid cancer diagnosis, precise stadification and appropriate treatment planning for patients,” said the health advisor.

The availability of these medical facilities would allow KP residents to be diagnosed and treated in Peshawar, while before, people had to go to other cities such as Lahore and Karachi to search for cancer treatment facilities.
“This will help to position KP as a leader in modern oncology within Pakistan cancer patients, as patients will no longer need to go to other cities for diagnosis and treatment.”
“This historic step marks a new era in the treatment of cancer in the province and will fill a long -standing gap.”
More than 11,700 new cancer cases are reported each year in the province of KP, making this installation a timely and vital initiative.
Health specialists revealed during the event organized by the Society of Medical Oncology Pakistan (SMOP) last month that only 3% of patients in the country are identified at an early and curable stage.
“This establishment will not only offer advanced treatment to patients, but will also serve as a medical research center, training and capacity building. This initiative will help reduce the financial and psychological charge for patients and their families. This is a historic breakthrough that will save countless lives,” concluded Ehtesham Ali.
