Guru’s birthday birthday ceremonies of Guru start without Indian pilgrims

Kartarpur: Sikh faithful from all over Pakistan and abroad arrive in Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, while three -day rituals marking the 486th anniversary of the death of Baba Guru Nanak are starting today.

Pilgrims will commemorate the anniversary of death in solemnities played in Gurdwara from September 20 to 22.

The event, which honors Guru Nanak’s last resting place where he has spent his last 18 years, has attracted thousands of Yatris (Pilgrims) from all over Pakistan and abroad, although Indian Sikhs have been prevented from going to Pakistan this time.

The Indian Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied the authorization to cross the border to the citizens Sikhs ready to visit Kartarpur for the commemoration of the anniversary of death, citing dominant tensions and security problems between New Delhi and Islamabad.

Reacting to the decision, the opposition parties and the Sikhs’ religious leaders of the Indian Punjab condemned the restriction, saying that it was unjustifiable when cricket matches were detained with Pakistan.

The former member of Lok Sabha, Sukhbir Singh Badal, urged the Minister of the Interior Amit Shah to reconsider the decision.

Thousands of sikh pilgrims come to Pakistan each year to commemorate Baisakhi and other religious festivals.

These visits are facilitated as part of the Pakistani-Indian protocol during visits to the 1974 religious sanctuaries, aimed at promoting religious harmony and cross-border understanding.

It can be noted that relations between Pakistan and India have plunged at their lowest point in the years following the fatal attack on firearms on April 22 in Jammu-et-Cachemire occupied by illegally (Iiojk), where 26 tourists, including a Nepalese national, were shot in the Pitrance of Baisaran de Pahalgam.
