Seven guards were injured when unknown attackers launched a grenade at the residence of the Pakistani peoples’ leader (PPP), Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Agha Shazeb Durrani, late Friday evening in the Khuzdar region.
According to SSP Khuzdar Shehzada Umar Abbas Babar, the attackers threw the grenade on the outside wall of the house, causing an explosion that was felt in the neighboring buildings.
“It was a loose act aimed at disrupting peace in the region,” he said, adding that fortunately no life has been lost and the injured guards have only undergone minor injuries.
The police said that the attackers, driving a motorcycle, had managed to escape after the explosion. The security forces have since launched a research operation and additional staff has been deployed in the region.
The SSP said that new surveys were underway with the help of video surveillance sequences and declarations of witnesses, promising: “We will soon stop the culprits and expose the elements behind them.”

The injured guards were transferred to the Khuzdar university hospital, where the officials confirmed that their condition was stable and they would soon be released.
The chief minister of Balutchistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, firmly condemned the attack, describing it as an act of terrorism.
In a declaration on the X social media platform, he said that such incidents “cannot weaken the determination of the people and political leadership”. He prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
He ordered the law enforcement organizations to conduct immediate investigations and to translate the perpetrators into justice.
PPP chief Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani, a former Khuzdar district mayor, described the conspiracy attack by political rivals. “We are the party of martyrs, and such attacks cannot intimidate us. The restoration of peace in Balutchistan is our priority,” he said.
The incident has spread the fear of residents, but the authorities have said that timely measures have helped stabilize the situation. The officials added that Khuzdar has seen such attacks in the past, and all the resources were used to restore peace in the district.
