Dubai: Andy Pycroft will remain the match referee for the highly anticipated Clash Super Four between Pakistan and India in the ACC 2025 Male Asia Cup, scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The controversy started at the group’s group meeting on September 14, when Pycroft asked captains Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav not to shake hands.
The incident led to visible tension, the two skippers avoiding the usual gestures before and after the match.
After the victory of India, their players returned directly to the locker room, leaving the Pakistan team waiting on the field, which still ignited the situation.
The director of the Pakistan team, Naveed Akram Cheema, has filed an official demonstration, arguing that Pycroft had poorly managed the question. The president of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, also filed an official complaint with the ICC, requesting his withdrawal of the devicue Pakistan devices.
Although the request was refused, Pycroft later apologized to the captain of Pakistan and the management of the team before his match against the United Arab Emirates, who had already been delayed due to the behind the scenes.
Despite the out -of -phase disorders, Pakistan then defeated the United Arab Emirates and guarantee their qualification for the Super Four scene alongside India.
Elsewhere, Sri Lanka exceeded the undefeated group B with six points, while the Bangladesh finished second out of four.
In group A, India led the ranking after their victory over Oman, Pakistan finishing second. Oman ended without a victory, while the United Arab Emirates managed one.
The Super Four stage begins in Dubai on Saturday with Sri Lanka against Bangladesh. India and Pakistan will come up against the same place on Sunday, before Pakistan took Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on September 23.
