Islamabad:
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) revealed that at least 1,006 people lost their lives in recent rains and floods while 3.02 million individuals were rescued in regions affected by floods through Pakistan since June 26.
The authority published fresh figures on Sunday, revealing that torrential rains and sudden floods had caused 5,768 rescue operations nationwide. During these operations, 273,524 rescue articles were distributed, while 662,098 people received medical treatment in 741 camps established as part of the coordinated efforts of the NDMA, provincial disaster management authorities (PDMA), the Pakistani army and other rescue services.
NDMA figures show that Punjab has represented the greatest number of deaths, with 304 deaths – including 110 children, 143 men and 51 women. KHYBER-PAKHTUNKHWA (KP) reported 504 deaths, including 90 children, 338 men and 76 women.
The Sindh reported 80 deaths, including 35 children, while Balutchistan confirmed 30 deaths. The Gilgit-Baltistan lost 41 people, Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK) 38, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Flood incidents also made 1,063 people injured nationally. Punjab has again pointed out the greatest number of injuries, 661 people affected. KP reported 218 injuries, Sindh 87, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 52, AJK 37, Balutchistan five and Tic three.
Punjab reported the largest number of rescues, with 2.81 million people evacuated by 4,749 operations. The Sindh followed with 184,011 rescues in 753 operations, while KP evacuated 14,317 people in 211 operations.
