Rawalpindi:
Pakistan Post began to close its dispensaries and medical centers in Rawalpindi due to the dominant financial and economic crisis.
The work of dispensaries and medical centers has practically ended due to the cessation of the supply of medicines and medical equipment for many years. The advice attached to the dispensary and the medical centers were also dissolved.
All the staff of the medical center confirmed the dismissal of the medical center and the dispensary, saying that doctors and senior executives have been released, the raw materials for any tests including radiographs have also been exhausted. “The board of directors of the medical center was removed from us, while all the equipment, closets and other things from the medical center have been transformed into waste and stored in a room,” they said. Due to the crisis of a serious shortage of funds, 20% of the post offices in the Rawalpindi district were closed.
The staff sit on their hands. The only woman doctor of the medical center located in Rawalpindi was dismissed from her work due to the lack of funds and it was decided to convert the medical center building into residence of an officer, whose preparations and decoration began. A few days ago, storage cabinets for medical equipment and emergency service beds were also withdrawn. The treatment and medical tests of Pakistan Post employees of the medical center have also been interrupted.
The officials present at the medical center said that for years, a large number of doctors had been posted in dispensaries and medical centers in all postal circles across the country. “A considerable number of personnel provided services. But due to the closure of funds and the unavailability of drugs, test kits and X-ray equipment, there is a situation of anxiety and extreme uncertainty among staff because no decision has been made about the future of staff,” they said. It is not possible to change medical frameworks, including distributors and technicians to any other executive in the institution.
According to employees, in the past, the plan to manage the Rawalpindi Medical Center in collaboration with the private sector was being studied, but now it was also terminated because no part of the private sector has come forward. According to employees, the officer to whom the Rawalpindi Medical Center building was allocated is not even displayed in this circle.
