ATC issues an arrest warrant against Asad Qaiser of PTI

An arrest warrant against the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) and former president of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser in the attack on the judicial complex by an anti-terrorist court in Islamabad on Monday.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra ordered the arrest and production of Qaiser in court after hearing the case against the founder of the PTI and other senior party figures.

The court accepted the requests for exemption from the leaders of Pti Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Asad Umar and Shibli Faraz. A letter sent to the ministry of the law requesting advice on the founder of the PTI has not yet received an answer.

During the hearing, lawyer Sardar Muhammad Razzaq represented Pervaiz Elahi, while PTI leaders were represented by Sardar Muhammad Masroor Khan, Amna Ali and other advice.

The case, registered at the police station of the Terrorism Department (CTD), was postponed until October 6.

Earlier, a lower court of Islamabad acquitted Qaiser in a case linked to the march of Azadi 2022.

The judicial magistrate Abbas Shah announced the reserved verdict, approving the acquittal request submitted by Asad Qaiser in the Azadi March case.

The case was recorded at the Kohsar police station during political demonstrations led by PTI. Qaiser was part of several party leaders accused of having raped public order during the march.

During the hearing, Qaïser’s legal team argued that the accusations were politically motivated and lacked sufficient evidence.
