Old video and not linked to the HPV vaccination campaign

A shared video on social networks seems to show the schoolgirls in Pakistan who fall sick and suffering after receiving the cervical cancer vaccine. The campaign to administer the human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) began in the country on September 15 and has been targeted by disinformation since.

The complaint is false. The video is not linked to the vaccination reader.

Claim

On September 16, an article on X said: “The big news, the HPV vaccine was administered to children in Pakistan. Save your children from this vaccine. Look at what happened to these children. ”

The message included a 16 -second video in which a man alleged that the girls had fallen seriously ill after vaccination, the appellant “poison”. The clip has been seen more than 48,000 times and republished almost 400 times.

The video was also shared on Tiktok where it received more than 21 million views.

The video is not linked to the VPH vaccination campaign and has in fact more than a year.

It was recorded in May 2024 in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Cashmire, during a confrontation between Protestant merchants and the police. L schoolcolors fired by the police would have landed in a school, affecting the students.

The images were downloaded for the first time on May 9, 2024 by a journalist and can be seen here.

Verdict: The viral claim is false. The video does not show that girls fall sick after receiving the HPV vaccine. It is an old May 2024 clip showing students affected by tear gas during a demonstration in Mirpur.
